Delete selected Makan data

Use this page to ask Makan to remove specific personal data while keeping your account active. Tell us exactly what you want removed and we will confirm what can be deleted.

Email Makan with the data or content you want removed. Your account and anything you do not request will stay active unless we explain that a specific item cannot be separated from the account.

How to submit your request

  1. Describe the data

    Name the exact item or category to remove, such as a meal photo, caption, comment, reaction, profile photo, display name, or support enquiry.

  2. Help us find it

    Include your Makan username or display name, account email, and useful details such as the meal date or restaurant. Do not include a password.

  3. Verify that it is yours

    We may reply with a limited identity check before changing account data. We will explain if deletion of the requested item would require deleting the account.

  4. Receive confirmation

    We will confirm what was deleted and what remains. Your Makan account stays active unless you separately request account deletion.

What you can ask us to delete

  • Specific meal posts, photos, captions, meal details, audience settings, or place tags.
  • Specific comments, likes, craves, reactions, notifications, friend requests, or other social activity linked to you.
  • Your profile photo, display name, or other profile details that are not required to keep the account operating.
  • A support or website enquiry and the personal details submitted with it.
  • Related Makan-controlled indexes or copies that identify the same requested item, where applicable.

What stays

  • Your Makan account, sign-in method, and minimum account identifiers needed to keep it active.
  • Meals, photos, profile details, friendships, and activity that you did not ask us to delete.
  • Resilience backups for up to 35 days and security or abuse-prevention logs for up to 180 days.
  • Limited records required by law or for legal claims, plus anonymous information that can no longer identify you.

Retention after a request

We process verified requests within the time limits required by law. Once selected data is removed from active Makan systems, backup copies may remain for up to 35 days and security or abuse-prevention logs may remain for up to 180 days. If you choose full account deletion instead, personal data is deleted or anonymised within 30 days.

Some data can be removed in the app

You can delete your own meal posts and profile photo from Makan. Use the email request when you cannot access the app, want a broader category removed, or need help identifying the data.

Want to delete the whole account?

Account deletion removes the Makan account and the data associated with it, and cannot be undone.

Request full account deletion
