Delete your Makan account

Use this page to request permanent deletion of your Makan account and the data associated with it. You can submit the request even if you no longer have the app installed.

Email Makan from the address linked to your account, if you still have access to it. We will verify that the account is yours before deleting it.

How to submit your request

  1. Send the request

    Use the button above or email support@makanofficial.com with the subject “Delete my Makan account.”

  2. Identify your account

    Include your Makan username or display name, the account email, and whether you signed in with Apple, Google, or email and password.

  3. Verify that it is yours

    We may reply with a limited identity check. This protects your account from someone else requesting its deletion.

  4. Receive confirmation

    We will confirm when the request has been completed. Account deletion is permanent and cannot be undone.

What Makan deletes

  • Your Makan sign-in account, email, user ID, username, profile details, and profile photo.
  • Your meal posts, photos, captions, meal details, audience settings, and place tags stored by Makan.
  • Your friendships, friend requests, blocks, social streaks, rankings, badges, and saved app preferences.
  • Your likes, craves, comments, reactions, notifications, referrals, and other records tied to your Makan account.
  • Makan data stored locally by the app is cleared when you complete deletion inside the app; you can also remove the app or clear its storage on your device.

What may be retained

  • Resilience backups may retain encrypted copies for up to 35 days before they rotate out.
  • Security and abuse-prevention logs may be retained for up to 180 days.
  • Limited records may be kept longer where the law requires it or where they are necessary to establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.
  • Anonymous or aggregated information that can no longer identify you may remain. Copies shared outside Makan are outside our control.

When deletion happens

After we verify the request, Makan deletes or anonymises personal data within 30 days. Backup copies can remain for up to 35 days, and security or abuse-prevention logs can remain for up to 180 days with restricted access.

You can also delete inside the app

Open Makan Settings, scroll to the bottom, tap Delete Account, then confirm Delete My Data. You will be asked to verify your identity using the sign-in method on your account.
